The summer is finally here ...

The sun has been shining here in Bath (at last!) and the thermometer has even climbed above 20°C. However, there have also been hurricanes in Mexico, tornadoes in Oklahoma, wildfires in California and floods in the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. There was even a mini tornado on the ground for four minutes in Milan, and North Wales experienced a mini earthquake!

We're still here, editing and publishing resources for teachers by teachers and Teachit Geography is always topical; there's a new resource below in our latest additions on the Oklahoma tornado.

Clouds
A useful resource which tests knowledge of the nature and characteristics of clouds for a KS3 student. This is sometimes a difficult topic for students to grasp, so this resource makes an excellent plenary or even an instant ready-made homework exercise to check knowledge and understanding.

View all resources in our: KS3 > Environment, atmosphere and climate > Weather collection.
Population key terms, definitions and examples, a matching exercise
Revision doesn't just have to be last minute!  Why not use this interactive matching activity to check students' learning of the key vocabulary for population geography? (NB although the PDF of this resource is free to all, you'll need to subscribe to gain access to the interactive version.)

View all resources in our: KS3 > Global issues > Population collection.

Tornado! The 2013 Oklahoma twister
The EF5 strength, 340 km/h Moore tornado last month resulted in 24 deaths and 377 injuries during its 39 minutes touchdown. This resource asks the students to consider cause, effect and response to the tornado. (NB You'll need to subscribe to gain access this resource.)

View all resources in our: KS4 > Environment, atmosphere and climate > Hurricanes, tornadoes and cyclones collection.
The long profile of a river
An activity which demonstrates physical changes in a river from the source to the mouth. Students sort statements and photographs for the correct stage of the river. (An interactive version of the statement sorting exercise is also provided.)
